Superdry Queenstown Opening

My first ever brand trip with Superdry for the launch of their new queenstown store!

With the success of their first store in Auckland, Superdry opened their second New Zealand in Queenstown this week! The new store is more than 200sqm, set across two levels and boasts a large range of casual, street and snow gear. In fact, it offers the largest range of premium snow gear across the Tasman region - and what better place than one renowned for adventure sports and alpine adventures!

As part of the launch, Superdry hand picked local and international influencers (including me!) to partner with on an all inclusive 7-day trip down to Queenstown showcasing both the beauty of the region and how their products align with its lifestyle. Read more about our adventures below.

DAY ONE

The first day of our adventure started with a flight out of Auckland and down to Queenstown with Jetstar. One of my best friends, Loic Quedecc (@kedecc) and I headed to the airport together where we met with fellow blogger Stephanie Lai (@thetravelkid) for our flight down. The flight was a mere 3 hours and took us down the middle of New Zealand. Looking out of the window, the skies were clear enough to reveal the stunning scenery of the snow-capped Southern Alps, an iconic part of the South Island that was an invitation to what we were about to experience. As we came into the Queenstown airport, we were greeted with the mountains boarding us.

Upon arrival, we meet with the Superdry team who chauffeured us to our accomodation, only a short drive away from the airport. For the duration of our trip, we stayed at the luxurious Hilton Queenstown Resort and Spa, a 5 star hotel situated in a secluded spot, Kawarau, along the shores of Lake Wakatipu.

When I arrived in my hotel room, I was in awe! Our rooms had each been customised for us with a welcome card, a selection of amenities and beauty products in the bathroom as well as a wardrobe full of Superdry’s newest collection to set us up for the week! SO spoilt!

Oh not to mention, the rooms were stunning! I had a Twin Hilton Guest Room which was large and spacious - boasting a seperate area for the bedroom and another for the lounge which included a gas fire place and an LCD TV. The bathroom was stylish with a separate shower and bathtub. My room was also ground level meaning I had french doors opening up to the courtyard giving me panoramic views of Lake Wakatipu as well as the mountains surrounding.

DAY TWO

Today was the first day waking up to the beautiful scenery of Queenstown. I walked out my french doors in the morning to the crisp air before heading downstairs to the restaurant for breakfast. There’s something about a buffet breakfast that brings me so much joy. I think it’s because you get to have a little pick at everything. I love little breakfast sausages with fruit and cheese - so delicious!

After breakfast, I headed down for a walk along the lake taking in the picturesque scenes in my Lorna Jane activewear layered up with a Superdry windbreaker jacket. The sunshine was out and although the air was crisp it was a nice warm day.

We finished day one with an evening at Amisfield Restaurant & Cellar where we all came together for a group dinner as there were few new arrivals giving us a chance to all meet properly. As the sun set, we approached the stunning location only minutes from Queenstown on Lake Hayes Road and were met with candy floss skies.

With the perfect opportunity to take photos, Superdry’s Rylee Leather Jacket was a popular piece worn out to dinner with Riley, Whitney and I all adorning the jacket. l love that we all wore it because it looked so different on each of us as we tailored it to compliment our own body shapes and personal style!

Riley (@healthychick101) wore hers with white turtle neck, black jeans, a white Balenciaga bag and boots with her in a high sleek pony (see below) while Whitney (@champagnechores) wore hers over her shoulders with a black turtle neck, black belt, denim mom jeans and open toe black heels whereas I went all black pairing mine with pointed stiletto boots, a corset and high waisted black jeans along with loose curls and a smoky eye.

Amisfield Bistro offers a multi-course menu that promise an exciting sensorial exploration of the region’s flavours. The dishes showcase the finest local, in-season produce where they only use New Zealand ingredients and wherever they can they are sourced within a 250km radius from the restaurant.

For dinner we were served 5 courses plus canapés and their house made bread along with a wine match of their own brand of wine. The food was sensational, all curated with the representation of local New Zealand on a plate.

While everything was delightful, my favourite was “the kumara and it’s ice cream” dish which we finished on. If you’re not aware of what a kumara is, it’s the Maori name for a sweet potato here in New Zealand. This dessert was a gourmet kumara donut shaped like kumara, batter made with kumara filled with kumara ice cream and topped with kumara caramel. I’d definitely recommend it.

DAY THREE

On our third day, we celebrated the much anticipated Superdry Queenstown store opening!

We had an early start with an intimate media event held at Hotel St Moritz, a luxury hotel located at the heart of Queenstown. The event was attended to by media from across New Zealand including reporters from newspapers, magazine editors and other people of importance.

A highlight of this event was a workshop, held by Zak from Instagram. He revealed to us some new Instagram features that were being launched at the end of 2019 and what we can expect from the platform. He also showed us how to utilise Instagram in the best way possible to better connect with our audience and create impactful content.

Given that today was the launch day, I wanted to create a look that captured the essence of Superdry, my own personal style and was wearable in any Queenstown vibe.

I went with a caramel woollen turtle neck, a maroon plaid style fitted skirt, black stockings and over the knee boots as my base layer. Over this, I wore Superdry’s Wax Edition Everest Parka Jacket in an oversized fit. This specific jacket is actually from their mens range in a size L. I wore this as a statement piece wearing it like jacket dress and everyone LOVED IT! It’s the perfect outer layer to keep you snug and warm outside in the chilly areas of Queenstown and can be taken off when inside to reveal a gorgeous outfit underneath!

After the morning workshop we headed the opening of Superdry Queenstown! Their newest store is located in the right in the heart of the city at 35 Beach Street, just around the corner from popular tourist destination Ferg Burger so it’s a must when visiting Queenstown.

Superdry’s Queenstown store offers the largest range of snow gear across the Tasman region! With more than 200sqm and split in two levels you’ll find men’s and women’s clothing and accessories including street gear, leisurewear and snow gear range known as Superdry Snow, which features fashion forward, technical alternatives to traditional snow gear.

DAY FOUR

Today we headed down to Highlands Motorsport & Tourism Park in Cromwell, 45 minutes out of Queenstown for an action packed day. When my boyfriend heard that I had visited this place, his jealousy oozed through the phone - this place is world class and the perfect spot to visit to get your adrenaline pumping fast!

The park offers a variety of activities from their Highlights Motorsport Museum off track to their high speed Go Karts or insane adrenaline pumping fast laps on track.

With Subaru being one of our key sponsors on the trip, they treated us to The Ultimate Subaru WRX Experience valued at $5,850! We spent a full half day on the track partaking in five unique action experiences on circuit including track laps on C Circuit and finish with a hot lap on the full circuit.

We also were treated to brownie as an afternoon tea on the track followed by a platter spread with the cheese, salmon and all the antipasto favourites along with wine post race.

DAY FIVE

On day five, we were meant to be taking a tour by plane but due to weather conditions were unable to so and instead did a day for exploring all parts of Queenstown in our Subaru’s.

We travelled out to Glenorchy to see the iconic “Red Shed”. Officially a Railway Shed, this photographed icon is in the Glenorchy Township received & despatched goods to steam ships servicing the area back in the day. Both this shed and the wharf next to it overlook Lake Wakaiptu and the Humboldt Ranges.

We then made our way to Wanaka. The Wanaka tree is another popular tourist photo spot however there were so many tourists we decided to just enjoy atmosphere along with the sun glistening on Wanaka lake, walking through the township.

We headed up to Rippon Winery up on the hills for a wine tasting and lunch in the exclusive Rippon Hall. The view was the best I’ve ever seen - capturing perfection. It overlooks their stunning vineyard, Lake Wanaka, Ruby Island, the Southern Alps and beyond!

Day Six & Day Seven

Day six was a day on the mountain and I was still gutted to have missed it. The team had their full snow kit on and hit one of the popular Queenstown slopes - Tremble Cone for a day of skiing and snowboarding. I had my full Superdry hot pink snow gear with matching goggles ready to go but I unexpectedly had to leave early and unfortunately missed out on the last two days of the trip. Day seven was just a travel day so fortunately I didn’t miss out too much.

I had such a great experience and will be back down to Queenstown again very soon! Don’t forget to pop into the Superdry store in Queenstown on your next visit!
