Sofitel Darling Harbour – A Luxury Sydney Hotel

If You’re Coming To Sydney For A Vacation, Escape Or Getaway, Sofitel Darling Harbour Is A Must When Looking Into Accommodation. This Luxury Hotel Is Sure To Have You Feeling Relaxed. Here’s My Experience, Highlights And Recommendations When Staying At The Sofitel Darling Harbour.

With Australia just being across the ditch from New Zealand, I don’t know why I haven’t visited Sydney before. Yes – that’s right, this was my first ever time in Sydney and I planned on having the best first experience ever.

Finding accommodation in Sydney CBD towards the end of the year is not only difficult but can be expensive so ensuring your accommodation has all the facilities that you need are essential.

THE LOCATION

In the heart of Sydney, right on the waterfront of Darling Harbour this is a great location for those without transport who would like to explore Sydney city.

With a Westfield mall right below us, it allowed us to have easy access to anything we needed whether it was shopping or essentials we had forgotten to pack. There was also an abundance of food vendors at our footsteps with affordable options within the mall or waterfront restaurants along Darling Harbour.

We didn’t trek out much beyond Darling Harbour during our few days stay here as we spent a lot of time in the hotel enjoying their facilities however if you were exploring it would take you only minutes to get to Circular Quay, Luna Park or to explore the inner Sydney CBD.

THE ROOMS

We chose a Superior with Darling Harbour view room which was absolutely stunning. The floor to ceiling windows along an entire wall woke us with a beautiful sunrise each morning and the city lights put us to sleep at night.

The rooms were spacious, large enough for two to move around comfortable and beds big enough to spread out on. There was a daybed to soak in the views of Darling Harbour and a table that could be doubled as a desk for two to comfortably work on. The bathrooms are large with a separate toilet to the shower. The shower featured an optional rainfall shower too.

ROOFTOP BAR & POOL

The rooftop bar and pool were the highlight of my stay at The Sofitel Darling Harbour. With an infinity pool and magical views of Darling Harbour, Sydney city and even a ferris wheel, this is the place to be in the summer. Their infinity pool is unique to Sydney being the only accommodation (that I could find) that had one.

We came here every day, multiple times a day. The first day we arrived at the hotel, we went straight to the pool. it was very busy from midday onwards with the Sydney heat reaching temperatures of 38 degrees. The service of the bar staff are great, taking drink orders and bring them direct to you.

If you’re looking for a more quiet time for a swim, I’d recommend between 7am – 10am. Not only will you get prime spot on the balcony chairs but the sun rises on that side of the hotel so you’re greeted with warm sunshine and refreshed with a morning swim.

THE BREAKFAST BUFFET

Located downstairs in the restaurant is the breakfast buffet which stretches across three separate stations. They include continental selection, a hot buffet selection with eggs made to order and a breads selection. On arrival, waiters will take your barista coffee or tea order which is included in the buffet cost.

It’s easy to get overwhelmed in buffets however I loved the selection of healthy and quality options they had available. Their continental area was a favourite of mine featuring fresh seasonal fruits, sliced brie, cold cuts including smoked salmon, flavoured yoghurts and more! I relished in this section eating from here for the most part.
