House Tour 2020

Take a tour of Chris and I’s new home!

At the start of this year, Chris and I moved into our own home here in Auckland after living with flatmates for years. We’re so excited about having our own space in this 3 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom townhouse in Auckland City!

I’m so excited to share with you all what we’ve done so far. Keep in mind, we’ve only just settled in so it’s still a work in progress but I’ll be sure to share more with you as each area develops.

KITCHEN

One of my favourite spaces in a home is the kitchen. I love cooking so this is my little happy place. We purchased a new Fisher & Paykel fridge to fit in the space which works so nicely with the other kitchen appliances such as the dishwasher, oven and hob. We with with a brushed stainless steel which also pairs nicely with our Breville Oracle Coffee Machine. An absolute essential for us!

I’ve began creating an organised pantry and love the look of the white squared off style containers I found at Kmart as well as these little labels I made myself. Kmart have had super limited stock as we’ve pretty much went straight into lockdown only 4 weeks after moving in but I’ll continue to scavenger to get more!

Laundry & POWDER ROOM

With our laundry space, we’re limited to a little nook adjacent from the downstairs powder room. We’ve wall hung our dryer and used the top of a front loader as a bench space for our washing powder and other bits and pieces. To the right, we’ve stored our steam mop and to the left is usually where our foldable clothes hanger sits.

We added a large circle mirror the downstairs powder room with black decor, a feature hand-towel and our first gift in this home which is a purple orchid. I suck at keeping plants alive so fingers crossed it survives!

Bedroom

We did something pretty unconventional with our bedroom. Much to peoples surprise, we made the smallest room in the house our bedroom. I have a belief that the bedroom is made for two things - sleep and sex. And even then, the second ones up for discussion.

I love having my bedroom space with no distractions to allow me to wind down before I get to sleep. It’s a big part of my evening routine, allows me to light candles or dim lights, perhaps read a book or do some meditation before bed. I fall asleep almost immediately when getting into bed and I feel like it’s because my body is programmed to do so in this space. It just works for me!

The second story of our townhouse has 3 rooms and the main bathroom. One room is for Chris’, one room is for me and then the other we share. In these rooms, we have our own seperate wardrobes as well as our space (which you’ll see a little further down) but in our bedroom, I have the wardrobe as my activewear closet - something I’ve always dreamt of!

Chris’ Man Cave

As mentioned previously, Chris and I have our own rooms designed to be used as a space for us to spend our own time in. This has come in handy particularly over lockdown. Chris has always wanted a man cave - a space where he can play his Playstation, watch the rugby with a beer in hand or have a few of the boys around.

So far, the room has a leather-look couch which has a cup holder, a storage ottoman, a retro beer fridge, a bar cabinet and a 55” TV with sound bar. We’re going to be getting a LED sign for the far wall that has THE MAN CAVE written in a neon blue for the empty wall which I think will finish off this room nicely.

my office & BEAUTY ROOM

As I work from home, having a dedicated office was really important to me. I work full-time as an influencer so creating content, getting ready for events and being in space that makes me feel good is important for my productivity and morale.

I have my Glamour Makeup Mirrors Glamster Vanity Mirror and Makeup Table which has a glass top and soft closing drawers which I store all my makeup, jewellery and glasses in. I have a little pink ottoman that I tuck underneath it.

My office desk is the IKEA Alex drawers with an oversized top which pairs perfectly with my pink office chair! I’m currently waiting on an oversized gold mirror to arrive and some shelving which was frame one side of the wall in this room.

I am beyond excited to create this space and I’ll be sure to do a full extended blog post on it once it’s all come together!

OUTDOORS

We have a really beautiful, large outdoor area which has trees, plants and even a lavender bush. The lavender bush attracts a lot of bees and I just love them! Some people are scared of bees but I think they’re so fascinating.

We’ve currently just got a refurbished outdoor dining table with bench seats which we’ve stained black but we’ll be looking to add a BBQ and outdoor lounge seating once summer rolls in.
